Onam Celebration

Festival of Onam was celebrated with a vivid display of cohesiveness among the students of K V M Arts and Science College. Principal Dr. K P Ramachandran Pillai gave Onam message of prosperity, equality and togetherness. As a part of the celebration the students and staff members of the college arranged a beautiful Pookalam.

The main attraction of the Onam celebration was the “Shingarimelam” which was performed by the most renowned troupe from Cherthala . The performance was the best ever in KVM history and was the most reviewed event of this year’s celebrations. The performance left the entire audience dancing on their feet’s and cheering to the beat of the drum. The girls were dressed in impeccable off-white settu sarees, and the boys in dashing mundus and kurtas brought a whole new festive zest to the day . The girls performed the traditional Thiruvathira dance, renowned for its immaculate team work and graceful moves. The ‘Musical Chair’ competition was conducted for the students of the college and they showcased their adapting skills and resilience in front of a mass audience. The games were followed by a lip-smacking sumptuous sadhya, served in the traditional manner. The many different Onam dishes and Payasam served reminded everyone of the unique features of a festival that Keralites always carry with them all around the world.
