The research and development wing of KVM group of institutions has organised a research seminar on “Fostering Interdisciplinary Research and Pedagogy” on 9th February 2018 at KVM Technical campus.The workshop was organised for Junior faculty members who are aspirant in research . It also aims at familiarising new techniques and innovative methodology of teaching.The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. K P Ramachandran Pillai, Principal ,KVM college of Arts and science . The seminar was inaugurated by Mr. George Arackal, Director A&F Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics and IT, Govt of India. In his inaugural speech he highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary research oriented approach. He introduced Digital India Corporation programme for research and detailed on Visvesvaraya PhD schemes. Dr Preeja G Pillai, Principal, KVM College of Pharmacy welcomed the gathering. Prof. Mr.M D Sreekumar delivered vote of thanks. The first session on technicalities of research was handled by Dr. Gabriel Simon Thattil, Director of IQAC, University of Kerala. He emphasised on the importance of theoretical knowledge and customising according to the demands. Dealing with the problems and methodologies of research he explained the process of converting data to knowledge and wisdom.
Afternoon session on research technicalities was dealt by Fr. Prashanth CMI, Principal Scared Heart College. A man with a vision, mission and action gave an insight into research through his experiences in social work and natural resource management.Hundred and ten participants from various institutions under KVM trust and twenty five participants from other colleges, attended the workshop.
Valedictory function was blessed with the presence of Dr. S Nataraja Iyyer, Principal SD College, Alappuzha. Dr. R Pratap Chandran, HOD Biotechnology and Research delivered vote of thanks.
The interdisciplinary research and Pedagogy seminar was an enlightening and inspiring encounter for the faculties and team members.
The students of KVM arts and science College observed teachers day on Sept 5th 2018. As a part of which the students greeted teachers to seek blessings from ‘Guru’ who eradicates darkness from the mind of students.Followed by felicitating the teachers of Arts and science college,teachers of Pharmacy and Biotechnology were also felicitated with flowers and cards.
Adapting to the emergency situation of Kerala regarding the flood issues, students volunteered in flood relief camps. The socially committed young students contributed several urgently needed commodities such as candle, matchbox,mosquito coils etc in the relief camp in Alleppey especially in SDV School,Govt Girls High School,SDV Govt UP School etc.
UN observes 6th August and 9th August as Hiroshima and Nagasaki day. As part of its 73 rd anniversary this year KVM College of Arts and science organised a debate on ‘Is war necessary or not’,It made students aware of the evils and consequences of war. There is an agonising trauma,suffered by men and women,because of the horrors of war.
